AROO! Spartan Sprint London - vanquished. Misty start, queuing up for 45mins with registration in the rain not great but the run - well, at the starting line heck it was just, lets do this, oorah quicker you do it the quicker its over :). I signed in for the competitive run 10am and am pleased to say I started off with the head of the bunch and kept the pace and group all the way - whatever the result (later this week) I can look back and say, did a good job of that. Started off running into the valley to then commence the arduous hill climb, you will see in the photos to come later it is one mother. Here comes my plug for CrossFit Guildford, I totally ate up the obstacles!! No stops, no pauses the only time I did pause was to help the same guy who gave me a leg up over the 10foot (?) wall. Obstacles this year were a lot more impressive - big cargo net, high platform angled rope pull, weighted pulley, ring the bell rope climb, walls, dips, monkey bars (I flew through that :) ), sandbag/ammo bucket/car tyre/drag weight up hills, lots of and I say LOTS of sheep dips - streams/pools of water, mud where you are submerged to chest height. Did I say mud, lots of mud, mud mud and running through trees. Looking back what was the hardest obstacle - easy, forget everything else just keeping your damn footing. Running across lakebeds, hills, broken rocks, boulders, broken up concrete construction, up down steep inclines yep very, very uneven ground. Was getting low just before the event but came out all guns - pleased. Photos to come.
