ARRGH!!! NOT a good day. Driving home started as a pleasant drive from my mothers house in north Tampa, heading to Pinellas County (Pinellas Park/St Petersburg). Everything was going smooth until I crossed the hump on Howard Franklin Bridge (I-275) and started seeing cars swerving left and right just ahead of me, as I thought maybe someone broke down in the middle lane, but couldnt tell at that point, just crazy bumper car situation. I continued slowing down, not knowing what to anticipate, when a few cars pulled off completely and the ones directly in front of hit their brakes, but we couldnt stop with all the rest of the traffic flying up behind us. Suddenly, the existing problem surfaced. No, JAWS didnt take a bite out of the bridge, but would have been better if it had. Some one along the way lost a kids bicycle off the back of their vehicle and probably totally unaware of it, kept on going while the rest of us crashed over it, tearing up the undercarriage of a number of vehicles still coming towards it. YUP, me included. Front bumper took a tear and shifted and I have NO IDEA what is dangling underneath the car and if there is damage to my tire or not. Yes, I did drive it all the way home (another 5 miles from the scene of the crime), parked it looked under the car and wanted to just cry. Called the insurance and the started processing immediately, got me a rental (a BRAND NEW Hyundai Elantra that had only 19 miles on it). The sweet scent of NEW CAR seemed to tone me down some, but then head to the collision shop, signed papers, let them send a tow truck flatbed to haul it to their shop, which thankfully was just right up the street another five miles. Love that so many places are close by. Now to wait the estimate. We dont have a culprit to go after, thus it is out of my pocket. Doncha just love it?? Life is Grand, My nerves are shot and my wallet will be empty, even the moths will finally leave. Have a wonderful evening
