ARSENAL TRANSFER NEWS: Wenger on a Bender, Depay on the way & Schneiderlin talks continue ARSENE WENGER is ready to ramp up Arsenal’s big summer spending with a deal to bring Germany international Lars Bender to the Emirates. The Bayer Leverkusen star is a no nonsense defensive midfielder and would cost the Gunners somewhere in the region of £15m. Arsenal continue to negotiate with Southampton over their central midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. However interest from Tottenham could scupper the deal as the Frenchman apparently prefers a move to White Hart Lane and the opportunity to work under his old bos Mauricio Pochettino. Sporting Lisbon have knocked back a £24m bid from the Gunners for their Portuguese central midfielder William Carvalho. The 22 year old has a £35m release clause in his contract and the Lisbon outfit are determined to hold out and keep their man or get more cash. Arsenal have also entered into negotiations with Catania about their young Argentine right back Gino Peruzzi according to reports in Italy. Apparently Arsene Wenger is keen to bring the youngster in to keep new boy Mathieu Debuchy on his toes.
