ARSENE WENGER admits Arsenal are nowhere near signing Luis Suarez. The Gunners are willing to smash their strict wage structure and make the Liverpool striker the highest-paid player in their history. But Wenger said: “We are not close to signing Suarez... or anyone else. We are ready to do quick deals but all the transfers do not depend only on us. We are prepared to wait. “It looks very unlikely that we will have anyone before the Emirates Cup next week because everyone is on tour at the moment and it’s very difficult to get in touch with people.” Arsenal are willing to give Suarez a five-year deal worth £150,000 a week. With Liverpool’s American owners looking to sell the club — as exclusively revealed today on page six — the club may be more willing to listen to offers. But Kop boss Brendan Rodgers last night urged his wantaway Uruguayan hitman to forget about signing for the Gunners and concentrate on tomorrow’s friendly in Bangkok. The Reds have already rejected two bids from Arsenal, including a cheeky £40,000,001 offer. Rodgers said: “Luis will play some part in the game. He’s still getting his fitness up as he’s three weeks behind the other players but the thing about Luis is that he loves the game. He lives for it.” Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre added: “It has never been our intention to sell Luis.
