ARTIST AS VOCATION, Log entry: day one... ...yes, I stand in a clearing...cleaning off the deck while weighing the options of future projects...even now...some are hovering along the edge barely visible...Here is a list of the current potentials... #1, This involves carving a prayer wheel out of a cedar stump...an issue of budget shock derailed this one for a while...but, now it may be back on in a more manageable scale......along with the creative surface design, technically, it also must spin...which will require a bearing system of some kind...Could this be the year of the Carved prayer wheel?... #2, This one, more obscure and unconfirmed at the moment...a custom commission of some kind mentioned a couple times in passing by a staunch supporter of my work...but, it requires a beer seance for details... #3, Yet, another one, ..a local musician who also owns some of my work...approached me about cutting a custom woodcut illustration and printing onto a banjo skin...so exquisite in its absurdity it must be done... #4, and, finally, a set of custom prayer flags...actually commissioned last summer by another artist...a master milliner...who, I believe was not so impressed with my sewing skills but moved by the spirit of the Breeze Gave Freely Prayer Flag installation to ask me to make her a set of flags for her porch...due in time for the Spring Equinox... ...There are more...but, this is a good start...
