ASKIAS LEADERSHIP: THE UZERE EXPERIENCE Uzere clan, a peace-loving community, witnessed different levels of pandemonium before and during the community elections that placed Askia as the President-General of the noble community. Uweye quater was saddled with the responsibility to bring three Presidential nominees to that annual conference. But this failed as Askia who was highly interested in the position could not make the list during his sub-quarter primaries, as Mr. Okpolokpo Idogho of blessed memory defeated him in a fair playing field in a broad day light. Through the support of some dignitaries in the community, Askia was able to maradona his way and eventually became the PG despite his earlier defeat. Before long, Askias bigheaded philosophy plunged the dignitaries that favoured him during the concocted election into deep regret. A dignitary lamented So, Askia wouldnt change for good? As his style, Askia forcefully usurp financial secretarys and treasurers authority. Yet, he could not render proper financial account of his administration despite he had worked in the banking sector. Though, his tenure was nothing to write home about, it is on record that his reign was the most favoured in Uzere in recent times as SPDC changed and buried all her pipes. Askia secretly sold the pipes that SPDC gave to Uzere into his personal purse. It is believed he got over #18million from the dubious sales. At a point, it was purported that he boasted he will dethrone the embattled King. Perhaps it is not unconnected to the over #18million pipe proceed that he (Askia) swindled. The inhumane treatment Askia meted on his perceived opposers during his tenure as PG is a story for another day. During community conferences, Askia will station his stooges to shout down and threaten to annihilate/beat-up whoever that opposed his erroneous notion(s). Thus, election could not hold at the end of his administration as he fought tooth and nail to impose himself as PG for a second term. Sadly, nobody dares to audit his administration till date. Askia claimed a mini-god in Uzere as he distorted the community conferences/elections for couple of years while he was LG boss until the who is who of Uzere rose against the inglorious deed. Uzere youths did not have the wherewithal to combat the injustice of Askia when he was the PG. As usual, for those that dared him languished in Oleh Police station as he connived with security operatives to perpetrate his ungodly exploit. For instance, Mr. Tordy Ogbokri suffered in Police custody, when he attempted to arrest Mr. Godspower Obaro (Askias major godson whose specialty is in the mystical realm as he provides telisman for Askia), who allegedly assaulted Tordys wife. Mr. Tordy declared publicly that he will apprehend Mr. Godspower. Unfortunately, Askia called the then DPO and framed Mr. Tordy up. When Tordy got to the Police station, he was detained. It was not easy with Tordy, if not by the grace of God. Previous week, how Askia hijacked and shamelessly benefited KEKE from Hon. Leos package to Uzere community and also directed his godson to sell the KEKE that was met for Uweye quarter after subcharging Ezede quarter, and how he also directed some other items to some leaders and the leaders instructed they should be given to the needy will be edition of its own.
