ASSOCHAM, MoFPI, RCCI to host food park conference in Jaipur on Oct 31: The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), in association with the ministry of food processing industries (MoFPI) and the Rajasthan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), would organise a national conference on ‘Mega Food Parks: Attracting Investment in the Food Processing Sector’ on October 31, 2014 at Hotel Ramada, Jaipur. The day-long seminar, which would commence at 9.30am, would be inaugurated by Harsimrat Kaur Badal, minister of food processing industries, and J P Meena, joint secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). A number of others are slated to speak at the technical session. t is intended to create an interface between potential investors and special purpose vehicles (SPV) to attract investments in mega food parks; create awareness among entrepreneurs about the various schemes of the ministry; to reduction in wastage of perishable agriculture produce and provision of appropriate linkages between the agricultural and industrial sectors. MoFPI is implementing a watershed scheme by establishing mega food parks. Under this scheme it would provide state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology to enterprises engaged in the food processing industry. The mega food parks have been set up to make available the services to establish backward and forward linkages covering the entire food processing value chain and implement the best practices in post-harvest management. Mega food parks are comprehensive industrial estates for food processing units where the industries would have provisions for common infrastructure facilities, like cold storage units, cold chains, effluent treatment plants, warehousing power connections, water facilities, sewerage, etc. The construction of these common facilities would benefit individual units, particularly small- and medium-scale units, because they are too expensive to be set up by an individual unit. Therefore, a common park with the requisite infrastructure would reduce wastage and help in the growth of the food processing industry. fnbnews/article/detnews.asp?articleid=36213§ionid=1
