ASUU Strike:- UNIABUJA Student Attempts Suicide, Says It Was A Better Option The continuing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU took another first turn on Saturday in the Dutse-Alhaji area of Abuja every time a female student on the University of Abuja built to hang herself in protest from the nearly four months old strike. The female student recognized as Jane Okoro had already hanged herself, but fell from the ceiling while struggling, apparently as the rope she used had not been sufficiently strong. Jane had sent her two younger brothers when using errand, merely a way of sending them out of our home so that you can execute the abominable act, but one of the brothers returned after 15 minutes and saw her on the ground that has a rope tied round her neck while another rope dangled on the ceiling fan. The 15 yr old boy raised the alarm, thinking that his sister was dead, attracting neighbours as well as other onlookers within their compound. However, it turned out discovered by people who got there first, that Jane was alive since it was only a suicide attempt. The boy, who was simply referred to as Andrew had told our correspondent how the sister was behaving so strange throughout that morning. He explained, ” She was to see a market with my mum, but said she has not been feeling too well. Basically we were at home with her, she refused to talk. She was always on her behalf Blackberry. Shortly after she had her bath, she sent us to First-Gate (market), but I left some cash I need to to work with to obtain my personal stuff in the home, so upon return, I saw her on the floor in our parlour. I even thought she was dead, and so i shouted.” Meanwhile, the caretaker who returned in the market soon after what is the news got to her had told our correspondent in tears that, her daughter need to have attempt to commit suicide with the ongoing ASUU strike. She said, I most certainly will ask her questions about why she wanted to do this to us. Shes been complaining to me relating to this ASUU strike. She said, at her age, she needs to have been carried out with school, and begin to address they i. Her father is late. I know that only this week, she had complained to my opinion approximately 6 times on what frustrating this strike has become. I am aware other pursuits might have contributed, but ASUU strike may have contributed the most; nevertheless for unknown reasons, it absolutely was devilish for my daughter to own attempted suicide.” She said. Asked what she was going to do about the situation, she said ” I most certainly will take her to my Pastor tonight. She needs prayers. We start to use somebody approach her.
