ATTENDANCE DOWN? GIVE THEM A REASON TO BE THERE Every Sunday morning across Alabama, someone wakes up from a long Saturday night and thinks, “Self, I am tired. I think I will skip attending worship with my local church.” The response is either to roll over and go back to sleep; or, to swing your feet off the side of the bed and hit the floor. What is the difference between the responses? The same thought process occurs before each LIONS Club Meeting. What can we do to increase attendance? 1. Give them a reason to be there. A person that has a responsibility will more likely attend. Every LION should have a task to do at the meeting. One may distribute the financial report, others may greet the members and guest as they walk-in. 2. Promote Networking. A new Lion, who develops friendships with 6 or more fellow Lions in the first 6 months, is more likely to attend and become a contributing member? 3. Keep the meetings lively and engaging. Meeting which are informative, lively and engaging promote good club attendance. Members who feel as if they gain nothing by attending a club meeting will find excuses not to attend. 4. Invest time to invite all members to attend. Simply showing up and opening the doors is not enough to maintain membership involvement and attendance at meetings. Lion leaders must take ownership and find effective methods of club communication How does your club promotes its meetings.
