The 2014 US-Israel Social Entrepreneurship Workshop will be taking place on the University of California San Diego campus every other Sunday, starting January 26th and ending on Sunday, March 23rd. Following participants’ independent work on social entrepreneurship initiatives during the months of April and May, a concluding event will be held in June 2014. Why a social-entrepreneurship workshop? A value central to Judaism and to the State of Israel is that of ‘Tikun Olam’, which is Hebrew for ‘repairing the world.’ Israel is renowned for technological and social innovation, including in such fields as agriculture and food security, education, health, immigration absorption and many others that have been instrumental in advancing the well-being of countless communities in Israel and around the world. Such innovation begins at home, with individuals who are inspired to make a difference in their communities and in society at large. This workshop is designed to inspire youth with the vision of social improvement and to equip them with the tools needed to translate such vision into effective and practical social innovations.
