ATTENTION Cerritos College students!!! This past Tuesday, during the weekly faculty senate meeting, the majority of the faculty voted AGAINST the involvement of students in a task force regarding procedures for selecting and adding classes for Summer 2015. During the discussion, the opposition argument was that students are not experts in that domain, thus should not be included in the selection process. However, students in the past have been part of the movement to keep and add summer classes to the limited schedule offered, and are greatly affected when classes get slashed. Despite our struggles, senate has found it fit to exclude us from the democracy we deserve, disregarding the fact that we the students are a large fraction of those affected by the end result of this decision. We would like to invite students to become more involved in our schools politics, a new campaign is in the works and we need as much student involvement possible in order to prevent our summer schedule from being cut back.
