ATTENTION STUDENTS! Important Health Information To prevent the possible spread of Measles, Fraser Health recommends the following: - you have had 2 immunizations of measles-containing vaccine after you were 1 year of age. This is considered immune. No additional immunization is recommended. - you were born before January 1, 1970 (January 1, 1957 for health care workers). You are likely immune due to a previous measles infection. No immunization is recommended. - you have had measles in the past. You are also considered immune. - If you do not fit any of the above criteria and you have had only 1 immunization, you must get a booster immunization of the Measles Mumps Rubella (MMR) vaccine. Most pharmacies can provide a booster shot for you or you can contact a public health unit 1or call 8-1-1. What are the symptoms of measles? If you develop a fever, cough and rash, or other symptoms that may be measles, you should stay at home and keep away from others who may not be immune. Contact your physician, who will advise you as to whether you should seek care in-person.
