ATTENTION TEXANS: In a live radio interview this past Friday, Texas State Representative John Frullo stated (is.gd/9vEwBZ) that he thinks campus carry has “a real good shot” of passing in the 2015 Texas Legislative Session. We think he’s right, but it isn’t going to happen without YOUR help. We need volunteers to fill several key roles in SCC’s Texas chapter. If youre interested in volunteering as a campus leader (running an SCC chapter at your college/university), a campus volunteer (working student information booths, putting up fliers, handing out leaflets, etc.), a media liaison (doing TV and radio interviews), a writer (penning op-eds, press releases, and lobbying letters), a multimedia director (producing videos and/or graphic images), or a lobbyist (visiting the Texas Capitol in Austin to meet with legislators and staffers), please send a brief biography/résumé to Southwest Regional Director Madison Welch at [email protected]. Be sure to include: 1. Your full legal name. 2. Your birth date. 3. Your school and year/enrollment status (e.g., senior/full-time, junior/part-time, etc). 4. A brief biography (educational background, work history, military experience, etc). 5. A brief summary of prior political experience (if any). 6. A brief summary of other causes, issues, or organizations youre involved with. 7. A list (in order of preference) of the jobs youd be willing to do. 8 (for campus leader applicants only). A list of other organizations youve run or helped run and/or a brief description of your managerial experience. 9 (for media liaison applicants only). A photo of yourself and a brief summary of public speaking experience or past media appearances (if you can also include video or audio clips, thats even better). 10 (for writer applicants only). A writing sample (preferably persuasive or political in nature). 11 (for multimedia director applicants only). Samples of your work. 12 (for lobbyist applicants only). A photo of yourself and a brief explanation of your transportation situation (do you have a reliable car; can you get to Austin at least one day each month--a weekday, preferably a Tuesday or Wednesday--from January through May). Prefiling of bills for the 2015 Texas Legislative Session begins two weeks from today. The session itself begins in just two and a half months. Seven months from now, the Texas Legislature will adjourn until 2017. The time to act is NOW!
