ATTENTION!!! There is a very serious matter brewing here in California!!! U.S. Department of Fish & Wildlife has sent a notice of intent to shut down 2 million acres right here in California!! There will be 14 affected counties: Alpine County, Amador County, El Dorado County, Fresno County, Inyo County, Madera County, Mariposa County, Mono County, Nevada County, Placer County, Plumas County, Sierra County, Tulare County, & Tuolumne County. Along with 9 affect National Forests: El Dorado National Forest, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Inyo National Forest, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, Plumas National Forest, Sequoia National Forest, Sierra National Forest, Stanislaus National Forest, & Tahoe National Forest. Their reasons are due to a decline in the yellow-legged frogs and the Yosemite Toad. Studies have proven that the decline is NOT due to human activity in OUR forests but due to a bacterial infection caused by another species of frog and also the non-native trout in the water ways. Human activity restrictions would be grazing, dams, water diversions, logging, fire management, mining, travel, fishing, hiking, camping, rafting, and much more!! Shutting us out of OUR forests would only hurt our economies drastically, promote out of control forest fires due to minimal fire management, and it would be denying us the right to have access to the public lands in which our tax money pays for!! All the while the frogs and toads would STILL be declining. Please share this information to help get the word out and put a stop to this!! I have included a website link that explains what is going on. defendruralamerica/DRA/FrogsToads.html
