ATTN MALE NERDS/GEEKS: Have nerds portrayed on TV and/or movies ever led you (or someone you know) to feel entitled to get the girl? I read this article yesterday and thought it was an interest point of conversation. Then, this morning, I heard that theres a Washington Post op-ed piece that similarly goes after Seth Rogan/Judd Apatow and the fact that its more national news has put me on the defensive. Other than misdirecting the public away from the true issues the guy in CA had, I just feel that this is generally, overwhelming false. If ever the nerd goes a few rungs higher on the social ladder on screen Ive, at most, thought good for him. No nerd acheivements on TV ever led me to feel entitled to anything growing up. I have to assume I speak for the majority on this and hope someone will tell me if Im wrong. So, nerd, non-nerd, whoever-- let me know what you think. (On the flip side-- since Jocks normally have the girl on TV and in real life isnt that the more dangerous entitlement? But, thats a whole other topic I think....)
