ATTN Oakland County EMS: With the implementation of new state model protocols, and as discussed at numerous meetings, we have notified the Pharmacies of all OCMCA hospitals to start implementation of the changes to the EMS drug box and A-Pack. These changes will go into effect starting on August 1, 2013. August 1 is just the start date. As boxes and A-Packs are exchanged at the hospitals, they will be updated, so you will see both old and updated boxes over the course of the month. The following are the changes: DRUG BOX Diazepam - comes out of the box Furosemide - comes out of the box Intranasal Mucosal Atomization Device - delete one A-PACK Ondansetron - two (2) 2ml vials with a 2mg/ml concentration go into the A-Pack Intranasal Mucosal Atomization Device - add one Email [email protected] if you would like to view a copy of then new Pharmacy protocol that includes these changes. Unfortunately, the new Discrepancy Form has not been added to the policy since it has not yet been State-approved, but ican be viewed, as well.
