ATTN: PLEASE READ & PM ME YOUR INTEREST: MOOM members here and abroad. We are inviting you to join and be part of the core group of members who will study, plan and implement our forthcoming BISITA MUSIKA Outreach Program for year 2015. This is only one of our continuing efforts to share our talents, expertise, blessings and time for the abandoned and neglected senior citizens. Some of the meager finances will be taken from the proceeds of our Sentimental Walk Down Memry Lane event come January 25, 2015. If you possess only one (1) of the following qualifications, then you can join us: 1. Advocacy in helping the poor and needy; 2. Can devout their time and their spouses during weekends; 3. Has vehicles to travel in Metro Manila and beyond; 4. Wants to atone pasts mistakes by doing good for our needy fellowmen; 5. Financially capable in chipping-in on whatever expenses incurred; I. INTRODUCTION: Our elderly once had a hand helping built this nation to what it is today. Now aged, weak and at the ebb of their life, it is a disheartening to know that most of our senior citizens at the Homes for the Aged institutions are abandoned and neglected by society, their own relatives and worst, even by their own children. If we would only consider and see in our minds eye that they our own Lolo’s, Lola’s or parents, we would definitely not allow them to suffer of boredom, apathy and loneliness a minute longer. Fortunately, they are not our relatives, but we have a social responsibility and sentiment to heed their murmuring calls of… “Anak, ilang buwan nalang ako mamamalagi sa mundong ito, bisitahin mo naman ako anak?”. Let us open our hearts and show to our elderly a minute of our love, affection and care. Assume them as our very own parents or grandparents. II. THE OUTREACH PROJECT: The Memories of Old Manila BISITA MUSIKA OUTREACH was conceptualized by this writer to liven the spirit of our abandoned and neglected elderly, by helping to reminisce the years gone-by through memorable and undying songs and music they are familiar and have grown-up with. As an avid music collector, I possess in my library most songs and music of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. These collections are all downloaded in the computer into MP3 format and include English, Spanish, Tagalog and regional songs. I strongly believe that this music collection was God given and should in turn be shared for a good cause to others. Thus, it is my desire to share the happiness and joys my music collection can provide to them and I pray that willing and able members of Memories of Old Manila can join me in this advocacy. III. PROJECT OBJECTIVES: The Memories of Old Manila will visit and knock on their doors with packed lunch or merienda. To partake the food, mingle, chat, laugh, dance and have fun with them while randomly playing the songs and music of their times. Being old, senile and Memories of Old Manila members and their spouses in the midst of their presence, these elderly would think and believe us as their own family and children. This occasion will lift and boost their spirits. It will give smiles in their faces, eyes would glisten, and tears would fall. No amount of money can pay for the joy and happiness the Memories of Old Manila members would bring them and they would surely cherish this happiness till their death, days, weeks or months from now. IV. SCOPE: We will launch this project at Home for the Aged centers throughout Metro Manila and nearby locations like: Golden Acres, Bago Bantay Quezon City Luwalhati ng Maynila, Marikina Tahanan ni Maria, Carmona Laguna Hospicio de San Jose, Manila Dr. Milagros Olivares Borabien Foundation, Calamba Laguna Anawim Lay Mission Foundation, Montalban Rizal Padre Pio Bahay Kalinga Inc., San Lorenzo Ruiz Home for the Elderly, Sinag Kalinga Foundation Inc., Tahanan Ni Maria Sa Dapithapon Home For The Aged, Inc., Later on, the outreach will cover all the Home for the Aged centers in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao through joint coordination and cooperation of the respective Rotary Clubs in the surrounding areas. V. FUNDING: For documentation and record purposes, the Memories of Old Manila would finance the first two BISITA MUSIKA OUTREACH projects from our own funding. However, this writer was assured by Ms. Evelyn Diao, Associate Editor of The Village Voice (an official newspaper of plush and exclusive villages, restaurants, condominium and establishments in Makati) to join us and cover the outreach, take photos and feature it in The Village Voice with call for donations to further continue this worthwhile project throughout the Philippines. Later on, we will seek sponsorships in preparing simple foods for the elderly from respected culinary schools in Metro Manila and from commercial entities like: Academy for International Culinary Arts, Pasig City Center for Culinary Arts (CCA), Quezon City Asian Center for Culinary Arts (ACCA) Henny Sison Culinary School, Quezon City Sylvia Reynoso-Gala Culinary School Jollibee Foods, McDonalds, KFC, Max’s and Chow King Foods. VI. MATERIALS NEEDED: Laptop computer with all songs downloaded (1) Amplifier (1) 100w Speakers (2) Your support and cooperation VII. BENEFITS: I request everyone to support me in this advocacy to bring back the smiles to the faces of our abandoned, neglected and needy senior citizens. I will guarantee you that at the end of the day, self-fulfillment will be felt and we will learn more about them, than them knowing more about us. VII.
