To be played by an actor or actor-dancer aged 60+ JOANIE – actor-dancer, playing age: early twenties A co-production with Zap Art & inroads productions. Supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund, funded by Arts Council England and the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund. Exploring the social mores and gender etiquette of partner dancing in the 1950’s, the project will celebrate the history of Regent Dancehall in Brighton & The Winter Garden , Eastbourne. The project will culminate in two site specific, promenade performance events in November 2013 in Brighton & March 2014 inEastbourne, with a script written by Sara Clifford. The project is collaborating with The Ragroof Players, Shared Space & Light (Video Projections), Thor McIntyre Burnie (Sound Artist), and Lucy Bradridge (Set & Costume Designer). The performance will be co directed by Terry O’ Donavan (performance director) and Sara Clifford (writer), with dance sequences choreographed by Dorothy Max Prior.
