No Callbacks. Don’t Talk to the Actors Written By: Tom Dudzick Directed By: Diane Bulan Show Dates: September 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28, Oct 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11 Rehearsals begin August 5th The best laid plans go awry when the cast and crew of a Broadway-bound play resort to manipulation, diva-like behavior, and chaotic abandon to get what they want. Fledgling playwright Jerry Przpezniak and his fiancee are a couple of Buffalo greenhorns suddenly swept up in the whirlwind of New Yorks theater scene when Jerrys play is optioned for the big money, ego-driven world of Broadway. Its a young playwrights dream, but the crazy characters and dilemmas they encounter are the things theatrical nightmares are made of. Character Breakdown: Jerry Przpezniak - The Playwright. For the first time, a play of his is optioned for Broadway. Going into first rehearsals, he is absolutely giddy with excitement. Endearingly naïve, but completely lovable. Arlene Wyniarski - Jerry’s fiancée. Practical but impressionable, she is wary of the big city, and has never gotten over her adolescent crush on actor Curt Logan. Mike Policzek - Director of the new play. An affable guy from the midwest, Mike may be the most easy going person in the mad world of show business. Curt Logan - Lead actor in the play within this play. A recognizable entity to audiences. Well-preserved and bombastic. Curt lives his life playing to the back of the house. Beatrice Pomeroy - Lead actress in this play within a play. A loud, vulgar stand up comic, Bea knows who she is and isnt afraid to tell you what she thinks, even if she is belting it to the tune of a classic song. Big hearted and endearing. Lucinda Shaw - British (accent a must). Obsessive about details, her work is the focus of her life, clearly not her appearance. Intimidating and unpredictable, she is the most sought after Equity Stage Manager in town. Auditioners will read from the script and perhaps read with other auditioners until dismissed. No Callbacks.
