AUDITIONS: This Is Not A Theatre Company is holding auditions for our next piece, Readymade Cabaret, which is based on the notion of readymade art as practiced by Marcel Duchamp. Twelve numbered scenes about control, fate, and free will are performed when their number shows up on dice rolled by the audience. Scenes are combined with pieces of text, music, and movement donated by New Yorkers via email, kickstarter, and interviews on the street, and by tweet danes. Both the content and structure of the piece will be determined by who is in the room on any given evening, and what they decide to do. We are looking for four actors for the current iteration of this piece. We are looking for actors of all sizes, shapes, colors, backgrounds, and abilities. Our rehearsal and performance space are wheelchair accessible. Familiarity with creating devised theatre and improvisation skills a must. Ability to deal with things that change constantly according to the laws of chance also a must. This iteration of the piece will be performed at the birthday party of an Ambassador’s wife at their home on the evening of December 6. You will perform and stay for dinner. Rehearsal dates and times are: November 17, 18, 19, 20, December 2, 3, 5 from 6:00 – 10:00pm at 244 Greene Street, ground floor.
