AVOID PDP SECRETARIAT ON SATURDAY -APC warns Supporters The All Progressives Congress (APC) has alerted citizens of Osogbo, the state capital- especially its members and supporters- to avoid as much as possible any contact with or attempt to observe the Peoples Democratic Party’s scheduled governorship primary election at its State Secretariat HQ along Gbongan road in Osogbo on Saturday April 5, 2014- that is if the event holds as planned. This is because there are grave security fears that the event could turn out to be violent-perhaps even bloody, the APC warned. According to a release from the party’s directorate of publicity, research and strategy signed by its Director Barr.Kunle Oyatomi, the APC alleged that even before this scheduled primary, one of the aspirants has been reported as saying that if another of his colleagues stood on his path in this contest, that colleague would be killed by the aspirant. This threat amongst the contestants, coming 72 hours before the scheduled primary, is a clear indication that all will not be well in PDP secretariat on Saturday. At least it is now common knowledge that at a meeting of PDP in Osogbo on Wednesday, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, former executive governor of the state, alleged that he was beaten black and blue by a Minister of Police Affairs and another aspirant who is hellishly desperate to become governor. If the PDP; at that level, can exhibit such mean behavior, one can only imagine what might happen on Saturday at their primary. “It will therefore be foolhardy for APC supporters, or any peace-loving residents of Osogbo to venture anywhere near the PDP secretariat because they could suffer serious if not fatal collateral damage”, the party warned. “Besides” according to the APC, “the PDP could turn around to frame up any APC supporter seen around the PDP Secretariat premises as the cause of their bloody primary, in their characteristic manner”. The APC said that the threat to violence in Osun by the PDP is growing from “latent to real”, and information from within the ranks of the PDP itself speaks of “a bloody electoral process in which all forces of coercion available to the PDP will be deployed in Osun to win the coming election by hook and crook.” They are prepared to shed ocean of blood for one desperate individual to become governor and reverse all the dividends of democracy that the people of Osun have been enjoying since 2010 when Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola came to power”, the APC said, adding that, “God and the determined people of Osun will forbid this happening” “Therefore,” the party concluded, “anybody who makes himself a victim of PDP violence by coming anywhere close to that party Secretariat would have himself or herself to blame; that is why we are giving this warning in advance,” the APC declared.
