Shortly after, he announced the album title as Wacko and stated that its him having fun and being his silly self using mostly comedy. He described it as a self persona based project. In late August, after a break-up with his then fiance, he scapped the album completely and decided to release a project of a more mature state. In September, Apawk announced via facebook that the direction he was heading was a brand new style than his former rap genre. He has begun to add a rock/metal theme to the album and revealed that the album was based on current tragic events as well as coming fourth as a new artist. The album was originally planned to be released on December 30th, 2014; However, During the reveal, it was then announced to be January 20th, 2015. PRODUCTION Production began on the album in early September after experiencing short term depression and researching tragic events that happened in the previous months. By October, Apawk revealed that his idea had shifted a bit to add more self experiences rather than focus on global negativity from research. Apawk also stated that the album has a lot of anger to it and probably wont send out as much of a positive message as he hoped for. COMPOSITION The album has been confirmed to be a mixture of Rap and Metal. A new direction that Apawk is planning. While most of the album will still contain the original Hip hop elements, the instrumentals for the songs were from live recordings of Sindustrys band instruments including Rhythm Guitars, Acoustic Guitars, Bass Guitars, Keyboard, Synthesizers, Drums and Percussion. The lyrics on the album have been said to be evolution in the artists writing capabilities as compared to his previous album, Cross Breed (2009). Apawk has stated that he either uses creative metaphors, or will come strait forward and say whats on his mind. The Rhyming process is a new method of ABC-ABC as opposed to his original AA-BB method. The artist has also announced that the speed of his rapping is now on a hi-hat rhythmic base turning his style into the Midwest Hip-Hop form. He confirms that he picked up the style from listening to Tech N9ne, Twista, Rittz and other fast paced rappers. Apawk compares the album as sounding similar to that of Linkin Park, Hollywood Undead, and Tech N9ne material. SINGLES In Late September, an advertisement was posted on facebook with the caption First Official Single: Armageddon to be released in either October or November. Nothing has been said since. In Mid-October, Apawk announced he would release a song titled Self Destructing dedicated to the anti-suicide group To Write Love On Her Arms. However, it has not been stated if it was a planned single or not. ARTWORK The cover of the album is Apawk shouting into the sky with a city on fire behind him as a metaphor of gobal tragedy. Apawk is also exploding himself articulating that he too is turning into a tragedy. Track Listing 1. Awakened 2. Too Disturbing (Skit) 3. Armageddon 4. Hatred (feat. Nate Blose) 5. I Feel Alive 6. Bloodshed INTERVIEW Question: What made you decide to come back to music after 5 years Response: I never really left honestly, Since 2009, i kept advertising new projects that i was working on. Just never got around to continuing them. I constantly scrapped them because i didnt like the direction i was heading. I sounded to similar to someone else and i want to be different than most of these artists so people can hear something new rather than the same copy cat material that mainstream artists are trying to do. Question: Why did you call it Awakened? Response: Well, after been dormant for 5 years, not releasing anything. I thought it would be a good idea to wake up and start releasing material again. Not only that, but the main topic on the album is about the pain going on in todays society, and again, ive awakened to see whats going on in the world. The title pretty much has a few definitions which is why it fits. Question: So what is difference on this album that makes it a new sound? Response: Not too many solo artists make an attempt to combine hip-hop with rock and have an entire album based on that one style. I know there are other artists that try to do it. I know one of my favorite artists, Tech N9ne, has done it, but he chooses not to stick with that sound and i prefer it. Not only that, but over the last five years of listening to a bunch of bands and rappers, I believe my lyrical and rhythmic abilities has improved dramatically. Cant wait til people hear what i sound like after so long. Ever heard of a rapper whos perfected pig squeals and growls? Question: What motivated you to combine Hip-Hop with rock? Response: Because i love both genres of music. If you love listening to rap and metal, what would it sound like to mix them. Bands like Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Hollywood Undead are a good example for it. Also i like to prove something. Im tired of fans of rap saying Metal sucks because all it is is screaming. Fans of metal say rap sucks because its just talking on a beat. Wheres the talent at. I have a song on the album called Bloodshed which talks about this topic. Maybe if they hear both styles at once, theyd put their f***ing foot in their mouths. Question: So would you say that the styles are Fifty/fifty or whats the percentage like Response: more like sixty percent rap, forty in rock or metal. All the verses are rap, The only metal is in instrumentals and hooks. But even then, there are a few strait hip-hop beats with no rock to them at all. Question: How has your lyrical abilities improved? Response: ive studied artists writing techniques and tried to duplicate their ideas. Eminem for example taught me how to bend syllables, how you can take two different sounding words, but still make them rhyme by changing your accent or tone of voice a little. And then artists like Tech N9ne and Twista, rapping along with their songs helped me create my own fast pace and a constant rhyme scheme. I went from an AA,BB method, to a ABC-ABC where i try to rhyme three or more words in one line. Its not that easy. Not only that, but i have seem to pick up the basics of using metaphors and or choosing if id rather be strait forward about something. Question: You stated on facebook that youre already working on a follow-up? Response: Yeah, I know Im not done with Awakened yet, but with all the garbage thats happening around the world, theres no way to fit all my thoughts on just one project. The amount of topics i wanted to bring up was well above forty. So i thought id just have to share my experiences on a second project. Question: Is your album just based on the negativity in the world? That what youre making it sound like. Response: No no, it has a self persona theme mix as well. The song Awakened is about me Evolving my music skills, The song Desert Sands is about following your dreams Broken Mirror, I Feel Alive, Vigorous are also off the main topic. Like i said before, the album title has a few meanings to it. Question: In your opinion, what is your favorite song or songs on the album. Response: hmm, thats hard because each song seems to have its own strength in something. Armageddon has pretty much the most aggressive tone and the most mixture of styles. I thought that was the most badass sound ive created. But then Evolution shows my courage and puts my rhyming abilities to the test which is the most hardcore rhyming process ive ever done. Self-Destructing is the most emotional song ive ever written in my life. Yea, that being said, i dont really have a favorite, theres too many strengths in each song to be able to pick one out.
