AWAKHEN was founded by Beth Brussell-Horton in March 2012 in response to the need to address the overwhelming numbers of feral and community cats that exist here in the High Desert. As an affiliate fund of the High Desert Community Foundation, AWAKHEN is recognized as being under their umbrella of the 501(c)3 nonprofit status. We are in desperate need of donations in order to continue to care for the feral and community cats in our program. In addition, we receive numerous requests daily for assistance. Without financial support from our community, these requests can not be fulfilled and the cats continue to breed and suffer. Donations are all tax deductible and can be made on-line or mailed to the High Desert Community Foundation @ hdcfoundation.org/funds
