AWG - Get Your Script Under the Spotlight Monte Miller Award Entries Close this Monday 31 March 2014 - Dont Miss Out! The AWG is calling for entries for the 47th Annual AWGIE Awards. Celebrating excellence in Australian performance writing, these prestigious awards are judged by esteemed peers, exclusively on the basis of the writer’s own vision, the script. At the heart of every great production is the script and in recognition of this, the AWGIE Awards praise the outstanding achievements of Australian stage and screen writers and promote their contribution to Australian art and culture. The recipients of the 2013 Awards were described as “being the best in what had been a top shelf year for Australian performance writing” by AWG President Jan Sardi and with such an incredibly exciting year in Australian stage and screen storytelling, the 2014 Awards promise to once again highlight scripts of world-class calibre. The AWGIE Awards include categories across the diverse spectrum of performance writing and each year, in addition to the AWGIE categories, a number of special prizes and fellowships are presented. Emerging talent is also recognised with the Monte Miller Awards. The Monte Miller Awards are open to associate members of the AWG for unproduced scripts across all areas of performance writing. Entries for the Monte Miller Awards close 5pm Monday 31st March 2014. Entries for all other categories close 5pm Monday 7th April 2014. The 47th Annual AWGIE Awards will be presented in Sydney on Friday 5th September 2014. Award entry is open to financial members of the AWG. New members joining as part of the AWGIE Awards will have their joining fees waived and must only pay the annual fee. To join the AWG please call the National Office call 1300 552 228.
