(AWP Bible Book preorder has been received) Squash matches are stupid. The only places that have use for squash matches are tv tapings, because youre trying to build a guy up quickly with extreme limited time. Doing so on a TV taping lets you take 2 minutes (including intros) of making a guy you need to push look amazing on TV. Thats awesome! The best way to do that is to handle the tricky situation in a way that makes the best of what you have. You dont want to pay a guy to come in to get squashed - thats a waste of your time and money and the guy who is coming in as well too. What you want is to have a green horn that can do bumps and has decent timing that is LOCAL to do this. The pay would be next to nothing and you arent losing an investment in a guy who you could push later on, but just had him get destroyed on TV. Dont ever put a regular on your show in a squash. Now, on the indy level with no tv, if you book a squash match then promptly never run a show again. What was the point in that?! No...really. I want someone to explain to me their justified reasoning on booking a squash match in a town that you arent putting on TV. What you did is either take a local hometown boy and had him destroyed, which really damaged his brand and you lost money on promoting a local boy (that could get friends and family to buy tickets) OR you paid a guy to come in from HOURS away to have his ass handed to him. You COULD have use that time, money and effort in booking a match that was a good give and take match that STILL had the guy you wanted to push win in a decisive fashion and in the process built up ANOTHER guy (that put the other guy over) to look like a million bucks too. Its called smart promoting and proper booking. Why destroy one guy AND your wallet when you can invest in the guy and make money together?
