Aali Janaab Alhaaj Azeez Sait Saaheb was one of the most respected political leaders of the minority community. Azeez Sait Saaheb represented the Narasimharaja Constituency in Mysore for a record unbeaten 6 terms. Biography Sri Azeez Sait was a fearless politician of his times, known for his wit and gut. Hailing from one of the most influential families, Sait chose to enter politics after getting trained under his unlce Mr. Mohammed Abba Sait (Municipal Councillor - Mysore) and took up the cause of the Mazdoor community. He was a champion of the minorities and fought for the upliftment of the community and the labour class. A mass leader, Sait was known for his daring attitude and fearless approach. Hailing from Mysore, Saits popularity was so huge that he won Parliamentary elections from Dharwad (district in North karnataka) defeating a local prominent leader Nazeer Saab and represented Dharwad for the term 1984-1989. Sait has to his credit the setting up Beedi Workers Welfare Development Trust, a 1000 houses colony with a hospital that provides free treatment to the Beedi Workers, school and mosque all in the same campus. The colony is named after him and is located in Mysore. He is the only politician in the history of Independent India that never believed in vote banks - the proof of this is the colony is located outside his constituency. Sri Azeez Sait served as a minister of the then Mysore State, was also part of the formation of the Karnataka state. He handled multiple portfolios, toured the length and breadth of the state for various developmental works. Sri Azeez Sait served as a Cabinet Minister under the following chief ministers of state: - Sri Devaraj Urs - Sri Ramakrishna Hegde - Sri Virendra Patil - Sri Gundu Rao - Sri Bangarappa Sri Azeez Sait was a Secular Leader and never believed in bias. He treated everyone equally and was loved by one and all. He only fought for causes and for the oppressed. His aim and goal was to help in providing equal opportunities, justice and facilities to everyone as it was their right. Sri Azeez Sait was referred by his followers with different names such as Sher-E-Karnatak, Azeez-Ul-Mulk, Baaba-E-Wakf among the most popular ones. Sri Azeez Sait breathed his last on 28th Dec 2001 and was laid to rest with full state honors. His popularity was visible when 70,000 people (men, women and kids) attended his funeral.
