Aaliyah: The Princess of R & B! Born Aaliyah Dana Haughton - January 16, 1979 - August 25 2001. Before Beyonce and before Rihanna, there was Aaliyah! She considered herself street but sweet. Lifetime TV presents this bio-pic of her life and co produced by Wendy Williams. The made for TV movie stars Alexandra Shipp (KT Rush - Nickelodeon, Drumline and a new movie coming out in 2015 Straight of Compton), as Aaliyah who resembles Aaliyah ( in the black top). Jamaican descendant Cle Bennett ( Rookie Blue, CBS Flashpoint, Lost Girl) as R.Kelly. Canadian/American actor, producer Anthony Grant stars as Damon Dash Aaliyah knew at an early age what she wanted to do with her life...she wanted to be a singer, dancer and actress. At the age of 10, she appear on the TV show Star Search, but just like other stars, Justin Timberlake, Sinbad, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Martin Lawrence, she lost in the competition. But look what she accomplished, because she didnt give up. Her attitude was to keep working hard and you can get anything you want! Aaliyah was a role model for a lot of young girls, even the great Beyonce. We have to encourage our young people, to pursue their dreams and aspirations, and never give up on the dream. We have to especially instill in our young ladies that are pursuing their dreams in the entertainment field, to never put themselves in a compromising position or in any uncomfortable situation to get ahead. There are tons of stories and examples of entertainers that failed in their first and many attempts to make in the entertainment world, but eventually succeeded. Failure is a subjective term! Anything can be useful if we learn from it and do something with the knowledge! The Aaliyah movie might not be the best produced movie according some critics, but if you watch it with the mind set to learn more about Aaliyah, as well as the entertainment business you might enjoyed it. Its on the Lifetime Network Sunday, 7pm, 9pm, 11pm and Monday at 8pm. We at The Juice CARES and would like to invite you to open up dialogue with friends, family, co-workers and associates. As usual we welcome your comments.
