Aam Aadmi Party, Ludhiana extended support to the striking Fisheries Students of GADVASU. We decided to raise their cause and discussed the matter with DC Ludhiana and students to find some solution. The diversification of crops is one of the main policies of the Punjab Govt. to ensure sustainable and regular source of income for farmers. Development of the Fisheries is one such sector. But no concrete steps are being taken by the State Govt in this regard. According to sources, 51 posts are lying vacant in the Department of Fisheries at various levels of the State. Qualified fisheries expert (B. F. Sc.) from GADVASU are sitting on a dharna for the last 10 days for filling up these posts. Relay fast was started by the students in front of the University gate for more than a week now. Aam Aadmi Party wants the Govt. should develop the Fisheries and should fill up the vacant posts immediately. This will not only generate employment for the students but will also ensure sustainable and regular source of income for the farmers.
