Abdullah al Hamid and Mohammad al Qahtani are two of the eleven co-founders of the only independent human rights organization in the KSA. They are in prison for peacefully standing firm for justice. I think a few Gulf State Monarchies are afraid of change, and they fear a revolution, especially the KSA. I wish King Abdullah will learn it doesnt have to be absolute power or no power. The KSA can become a constitutional monarchy. People dont revolt if they have freedom and dignity, and their government is fair and just. Many of the Gulf State Monarchs have phenomenal wealth. Their countries natural resources are a gift that affords them great power and responsibility. I think the test of these Monarchs is that of gratitude. How does gratitude manifest itself when youre given such enormous wealth? I think the most important response is humility; being gracious and recognizing they are fortunate, not entitled. Humility fosters respect, cooperation, goodwill, generosity, tolerance and justice. I wish all of the Arab States will learn that the US keeps them divided to maintain its hegemony in the Middle East. I wish all of the Arab States will unite along the principles of freedom, dignity, social and economic justice. There are Arab leagues and councils, which can create agreed upon manifestations of these principles. They can also create procedural protocols when there are issues, breaches or perceived breaches. It is counterproductive to resist positive change. Freedom is innate, and, as the Syrians, Egyptians, Libyans and Tunisians are reminding us, it is something, for which, people are willing to die. There are democratic, constitutional monarchies; it doesnt have to be all-or-nothing, zero-sum, or win-lose. However, it is lose-lose when states continue to oppress and deny freedom, dignity and justice. I wish the KSA will remember... people dont revolt if they have freedom and dignity, and their government is fair and just. Please release all activists who are simply standing firm for justice, Quran 4:135.
