Abdullahi’s Sack The historic visit of President Goodluck - TopicsExpress

Abdullahi’s Sack The historic visit of President Goodluck Jonathan and PDP national bigwigs did not go without its own drama yesterday as hundreds of protesters, chanting all manner of war songs, demanded the immediate sack of Nigerian sports minister and indigene of Kwara state, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi. The protesters, who gathered at a strategic place in front of the elevated podium where President Jonathan was seated, clutched several green and pink cardboard sheets which bore several unprintable inscriptions against Mr. Abdullahi. Although the E-Kwara’s correspondent, who was present at the moment of the protest could not determine the identities or sponsors of the group, but she observed that virtually all of them wore the campaign t-shirts of Sen. Simeon Ajibola, senator representing Kwara south senatorial district in the National Assembly and Mr. Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, an oil magnate and scion of the respected Nigerian lawyer, Alhaji A.G.F. Abdulrasaq (SAN). The cardboards contained messages like: Sack Bolaji Abdullahi Now,” Bolaji Abdullahi is a Traitor,” Bolaji Abdullahi is an APC Member,” A Leopard cannot Change his Spot, Bolaji is Bukky’s Boy.” Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi, an unrepentant loyalist and godson of Sen. Bukola Saraki, is a member of President Jonathan’s kitchen Cabinet. Although Saraki, formerly the leader of the PDP in the state has since defected to the opposition APC and became a sworn enemy of the President, his lanky, Abdullah refused to move with him in a bid to be retained as a Minister in the Federal Executive Council. He was recently quoted as saying that he is not a politician and should be ‘isolated’ from Kwara politics.
