“Abiding in the Vine” Discipleship Training III Rev 11:15-18, “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. 16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, 17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. 18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. Making a disciple is not a world takeover, it’s an effort to show others how to abide in Christ as a follower. Tonight as we continue into discipleship we will discover what making a disciple means. The mandate to preach the gospel that Jesus preached has often been neglected, misunderstood, or even outright manipulated. Once you include you at the starting point you missed what the Good News really is. The gospel should benefit you, but only residually. The residue of Christ. In Jesus name which means in his authority. The disciples at one point became so wrapped up in the power they have they forgot where it came from. In other words faithless. We often begin to see the power we have and miss the point of faith. Faith is not believing without proof. Faith is the difference between what is true vs what we perceive to be true. Most choose the latter, what is perceived to be true. Jesus demonstrated and gave to his disciples’ proof that he is who he said he is. They followed him because of that proof. They followed him most to their deaths because they saw the true meaning of what he meant by abundant life. They didn’t reduce it to a worldly perception of more now and even more later. So tonight we will rightly divide the word of God and put faith in perspective, and see the 3 things needed to make a disciple. Join us tonight at 6:30pm, EST for the making of a disciple.
