Abolish the Minimum Wage It is extremely important that we abolish ALL price floors, especially the price of personal labor. There can be many great perks for jobs besides money and the top one is experience, the second is relationships, then there could be many more such as free time, work environment, self-esteem, lack of dress standards, uniform, character development, interest in a particular field, flexibility of schedule, time with family etc. A YOUNG PERSON WITH NO EXPERIENCE MAY ONLY BE ABLE TO COMPETE IN THE WAGE HE OR SHE IS WILLING TO ACCEPT. Take the example of baggers. Baggers help cashiers work faster at food stores. Baggers and cashiers allow the customer to concentrate on their buying process, read and they increase store revenue by giving the customer time to consider more purchases in the check out lane. (Candy makers have made fortunes from check out lanes.) Having these kinds of jobs is very important for young people, when they are not bagging baggers can help stock, and do other tasks around the store, thereby gaining valuable experience. They do kind deeds for older patrons like carrying out their groceries (which, as they build relationships over time, could earn them more money in tips or other work like helping customers with their yard work and other needed chores). These jobs pay little but they give the courteous and presentable young person a chance to build some relationships that could lead to something more significant over time. As prices rise for labor in stores who hire baggers so does the price of food, because the store has to pass the cost of labor on to its customers in the prices of what it sells, we get automated tellers and Aldi stores where the customer does their own bagging and grocery toting. There are no baggers at WalMart. If wages are low, young people can take bagging jobs and get experience in the grocery business. That could in turn lead to their opening their own business some day, or becoming a buyer for a large corporation or anything. If they can save money they can buy tools or supplies to start their own business sooner. If wages are too high those jobs will be gone and the opportunities they offer with them. Other low wage jobs could be: library book shelver, receptionist, security person at a neighborhood entrance, janitor or office person at a church, secretary for anyone, valet, house keeper, runner for a law firm or business, junior apprentice at any type of profession, etc…Because of the minimum wage, excessive regulation and a dozen other reasons experience and insight is not being passed on to future generations. ABOLISH THE MINIMUM WAGE!
