Its an thorough introduction to small business, and is coordinated by the CCAE - the Canadian Centre for Aboriginal Entrepreneurship. It is funded primarily by the Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation and HRSDC, and we have support from key community champions such as Vancity, Aboriginal Directions and Spiritlink Communications. In 7 communities across BC this year, we can help up to 25 participants can develop business skills and employment skills to prepare for higher level jobs and self-employment. Theyll learn a wealth of tools to explore ways to research, launch or improve their own business with Aboriginal BESTs: * Interactive classes about business start-up and development; * Group sessions and one-on-one business coaching; * Free workbooks, snacks, and (often) access to computers, and; * Presentations/ Q & A with Aboriginal business owners and community leaders Each training session is delivered by small business experts who bring in local Aboriginal business owners and guest speakers. Hear their insights and learn what it takes to start a business this year! The Aboriginal BEST Program will be offered in the following locations for 2013-2014: Burns Lake/Lake Babine Nation; Terrace, Campbell River, Vancouver, Chilliwack/Sto:Lo Nation, Surrey/Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association, and Victoria/Saanichton area. HOW CAN YOU HELP TO SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS? Please forward this message to your contacts to let them know that many BESTs are starting soon - and that they can take the class to polish their own skills and business plans, maybe do some guest speaking, and encourage others to develop their own entrepreneurial spirits! I attached a poster about one of the programs were coordinating in Burns Lake with the Lake Babine Nation. The classes start October 20th and will run every day - Monday to Friday from 10am to 2:30pm with some coaching for two (2) weeks. Class includes snacks, free textbooks, inspiring instructors, some follow-up coaching, and access to guest speakers and community leaders who support entrepreneurship and small business. . We cover all the basics of business start-up and launch - from research to marketing, operations to basic accounting, financials to presentations, preparing yourself to run a business, and ways to use social media and technology effectively. 2. The Burns Lake/ LBN program will run October 20th to 31st, 2014. It will run two weeks - during the day - with some time for follow-up coaching in the afternoon.
