About 10 years ago, I got a certificate as a Philadelphia Class A Engineer. Basically, this is a boilers license equivalent to a blue seal. I currently also have a NJ black seal low pressure license. The NJ license gets me a stipend of about $23 per pay at my current job. I never did get to use the Philly license. My friend was going to try to get me into a hospital as a sub, working part-time. It never materialized, but I still pay a $20 fee each year to maintain it. I still value it. It took me 3 times to pass the state test. Just like my Certified Educational Facilities Manager degree I got from Rutgers in 2008. Never got to use it. No regrets. I still value it. Maybe some day, who knows? As for now, I have a job at Loring/Flemming school that is very important to me. I have something more valuable than a degree or a certificate. I have good friends there.
