About 12:05am this morning (13/06/13) officers from the Regional Operations Group attempted to stop a black Holden utility in Balga. It will be alleged the vehicle failed to stop and officers engaged in a pursuit. Within a couple of minutes the driver lost control and tried to flee however he was taken into custody a short distance from the vehicle. Two other people were also taken into custody. It was established the vehicle had been stolen back in February from a car yard in Wangara and had false number plates attached to it. A 34 year old man from Balcatta has been charged with Steal Motor Vehicle & Drive Recklessly, Fail to Stop, Reckless Driving, No Authority to Drive and Possess a Prohibited Weapon (taser). He will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on 5 July 2013.
