About 95% of you people on my friends list will either think this is TMI or will just not give a damn, let alone a glance. So basically its for family and other breast feeding/ pumping mommas out there! On February 27th my doctor told me that there was no way I could produce enough milk to keep Ivy healthy and that I needed to fully focus on using supplements. I was absolutely devastated and felt completely shitty and like a failure that I couldnt do what every mommy has the ability to do for their baby. I listened to my doctor and had completely stopped breast feeding on February 31st. I gave up because a doctor with a medical license and a degree in post partum treatments told me there was no way I could do it and the WIC branch in New Jersey told me that it would be easier to give up and use formula! On March 18th I applied for WIC in Bloomsburg Pennsylvania. I left that office with a fully free rental breast pump, a list of supplements to increase my milk volume, and a new sense of hopefulness. Not to mention a crazy big smile on my face! It is now March 24, and I am proud to say that I CAN DO IT! I am pumping 3 oz. out of each breast every six hours. I say all of this because I know some mommies out there who are struggling with breast feeding. Those specialists were right: it hasnt been easy. But they were also wrong... I can do it and I AM doing it. Thats almost two months without even trying to express milk and in a week I am working my way to powerhouse status!!!! Im so proud of myself and I want any ladies struggling or significant others who are supporting their girl breast feeding through hard times to not give up! Its painful, its tiring, and it seems like it will never get easier but it will! Now if you are a person on my friends list who read this but its not necessarily relevant to, if you have punks of your own someday this WILL be relevant. Thanks for reading
