About #EU sanctions on #Ukraine, I explained yesterday to Deutschlandfunk that Mr Barroso is right in saying that if the violence in Kiev does not stop, if the Ukrainian government goes on like this, we will have to warn the government about the consequences which could be account blocking or visa restrictions. Nevertheless I advise to keep in contact with Ukraine and still give Kiev the possibility to negotiate with us in order to find an agreement. We need to keep the door open, otherwise this would be a stab in the back of the opposition, the people fighting on #Maidan Square. I call for a dialogue with the Ukrainian government as we should not let the people down. Before talking about imposing sanctions or other punitive measures, we must think of sending #negotiators to Ukraine.
