About SUFISM, in response to a friends Comment elsewhere; Thanks to the Punjab style simplification of everything serious, SUFISM has become one of the Elites fashions. If SUFISM is a philosophy (with roots in Upanishads which the likes me are blessed to remain ignorant of), then it has nothing to do with the WALAYAT and the personality cult. If SUFISM is PEERI-MUREEDI, it is a mere facet of trade of spirituality--from Isfaq Ahmad, the great beneficiary of Zia days official E-media to ? ? ? many gentlemen in Lahore amused claiming SUFIs in Lahore. Or else, SUFISM is the culture of un-proclaimed SHRINEs and seasonal MELAs. Lets the Urban Pandits spare something for the common. [The proclaimed are the shrines which have Gadi-Nasheens and are known for URS in contrast to MELAs. The examples of this classification are: the shrine and MELA of Shah Shams Sabzwari RH. celebrated by people following the seasonal Bakrmi calendar (Siraiki SAGHRAAND). These shrines and MELA type are in contrast to the shrines of Shah Rukn-e Alama RH. and BahauDdin Zakariya RH., for instance. The latter are looked after by GADI-NASHEENs and celebrated with URS following the in Hijra calendar.
