About The minimal viable product MVP #quora Original post qr.ae/w9PHI Two simple examples: 1. Everything now about being mobile = local. Youve this brilliant idea about people paying you a few bucks to get information about all sales around them. The hypothesis is logical: you will help them save money and discover new products and they will be very happy to pay for it. So instead of building any app, spending hour looking for the easiest solution, you can go to one shopping mall with a pen and paper. Write down all ongoing sales from all shops in the mall, go back to your computer and just print them on one paper. Stand up with this paper in the front door of the shopping mall and try to sell it to people for any amount (lets say $2). If none will buy it, how do you want to convince them to download an app to their phones and spend in it so much time in it? 2. You have this great idea about selling exclusive imported things almost nobody sells (or you cant find anyone even if you are googling like crazy). Instead of paying for the e-commerce site, spending time writing texts, establishing connections with the importer, start a free blog, put there some text about your plan and if the visitor is interested, ask for an email. Then pay $100 for Google AdWords (you can get $60-$100 for free from a coupon). If nobody who visits your site gives you her email, its probably not so good idea. This are just very simple examples. Be creative and find ways how to test your hypothesis as cheap as possible with as less work as possible. And if your friends/family will tell you that they would pay you for the service/product, just ask them to give you the money in front. They know you, so if you cant convince them, youll have really hard time to convince others.
