About a month ago, I changed my entire view on dieting, whats healthy, whats balance REALLY about, and the entire way in which I not only approach my own health and fitness journey and LIFE, but that of every single client I work with. I was admittedly a CLEAN EATING SNOB, yet I had more food intolerances than anyone I knew so something didnt add up... The clients I had on restricted meal plans and any steady state cardio, all went on flexible plans and HIIT for the cardio. It wasnt easy to say hey Ive been wrong and Im making this change, heres why...!, but man am I glad I did it. Regardless of what happens leading up to Vegas, I am healthier and happier than Ive been in a long time, and my clients are SO much happier! Their health, happiness and journeys are what matters MOST to me because I take it very seriously that they could work with anyone, and trusted me to guide them on their journeys. For those of you that have asked, no I didnt jump on the IIFYM bandwagon, but I did find a balance between that and clean eating. I no longer refer to foods as clean, but DO encourage that a majority of my clients macros come from whole and NUTRIENT DENSE foods, and they hit a certain amount of fiber each day. Even if a calorie of energy is a calorie of energy and you can approach it that way from a physique standpoint at times, I strongly feel your inner health matters just as much, physically and emotionally. I would much rather someone not feel restricted in what theyre eating and be able to fit in meals out or treats they enjoy, in moderation and within their numbers, without having to binge or beat themselves up. All food creates emotion. Its just how humans work! It may be creating the mood for an event or special occasion , or making you happy because you put something amazing together, or maybe youre miserable eating the same thing over and over or not being able to have what you would like. Its perfectly healthy to have emotions attached to food, its how we are wired. But those emotions should also be healthy and balanced and be a way in which you can LIVE your life, reach your goals, and just be happy. 💕
