About a month ago, a little story appeared on my news feed about Robin Williams showing up at a Dairy Queen in Minnesota and ordering a small vanilla cone. In the photo, he looked older and frailer than I had ever seen him and my heart went out to him and his desire for a little taste of sweetness. A small vanilla cone clearly wasnt enough to save him--how could it be?--but I hope that treat gave him at least a few moments of peace. My dad always says you cant be sad eating an ice cream cone. My family knows firsthand the devastation of suicide; my heart aches for the Williams family now. May they find small moments of peace in the midst of their loss.
