About bass playing, I have often remarked that I cut my teeth on Led Zeppelin. When I was 16 and learning, I used to put the record on the turntable, put the needle on and then dragged my thumb on the record to slow it down so I could hear the tone intervals of the faster pieces that John Paul Jones laid down. Hearing the tone intervals was good, but I would have to move my hand position to change the notes and speed it up. Today the process is simpler using a media player, I can slow a song down and hear the actual notes but with more time between them. Rust never sleeps, so Im brushing up on songs I have not played properly in 30 years.
