About our soloist for the 13/14 Season Opener, September 22, 4 pm at Christ Church in Bay St.Louis, MS Mozart Piano Concerto 12 in A major: Joohae Kim, Korean New Zealander pianist, Joohae Kim began learning the piano at the age of three in Korea. Dr. Kim studied piano performance at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, completed her Bachelor and Masters degree with first class under the guidance of the leading pedagogue Rae de Lisle. She had earned numerous prizes in many major piano competitions in New Zealand and America, including Kerikeri International Piano Competition, Christchurch National Concerto Competition and Chapman Piano competition. She has also recorded on Concert FM Radio for the Young New Zealand series, made appearances as a soloist with several orchestras. In 2014, she is invited to give performances and master-classes at the music festival in Te Anau, New Zealand. She completed her doctoral study, with Dr Read Gainsford at Florida State University, researching four New Zealand piano preludes from 12 Landscape Preludes commissioned by New Zealand Pianist Steven de Pledge. Dr. Kim is a collaborative faculty Artist in University of Southern Mississippi.
