About the veil of secrecy: Good morning friends and family. Please be patient with me as I explain something heavy on my heart and mind these days. I was asked to lay down some of the facts about what we can and cannot find to tell you WHO and WHAT is on the ground in Densuline Nene. It is exactly what our old ones said - it is a new old age of the Corporate Beast. It is hard for me to share what we do know; knowing what it means - on the ground for a livelihood and way of life. One year ago - a girl could “see” almost everything on the ground via government web information: lengthy environmental assessments, monitoring results and evaluations - maps laying down this same information too. Not anymore. This is environmental management or Industry Policing itself - the veil of secrecy. We also noted changes to how we can search for information on legislative assembly webpages and other sources of government information. For a girl who likes maps and keyword searching, I can tell when things have been jigged around to make information harder to access. And in some instances, to gain access to this information now, we need “permission” through an application process. A girl use to be able to access Crown land maps; outlining dispositions activity (the mineral interest) and Crown land access (whether or not crown land disposed). Not anymore. Neither can the Trapper Associations in the Northern regions – they can’t even tell you because government won’t tell them. Government won’t even tell them who is trapping in a similar block but that is old news. WHO is actually on the ground is now one of the more difficult questions to answer. Even the Fur Block Maps have mysteriously disappeared from government webpages – we are open for business only. Not with the public. There is money in this ground – especially right in Laloche. Money that comes from outside this country too. Big money. On one website alone more than 50 hits for the keyword search – Patterson Lake – on a Market wire services. I can find out more about WHO is on the land for WHAT on the “money maker” pages than we can from local politicians of ANY flavour. Market wire, and other services like it, is a window into the investment part of this corporate beast. This is where Industry goes to make cash to come in and destroy a way of life. Following the results of this search is part of what I am doing now. We’ll get back to you on that shortly. We can’t get this information from government. We can’t get this information from “Mayors” pretending to speak for the Peoples. We can’t get this information from First Nations as they put their people on INFORMATION LOCKDOWN – with directives to staff, we hear, to NOT speak of #Laloche. These artificial created ways of speaking on our behalf do not work for the livelihood and way of life the Denesuline Nene.
