About two hours ago I was in a hit-and-run accident on my motorcycle. I am fine (I think - see Note 1). Happened on Moorpark east of Vineland (just as I was leaving the dentist, it so happens... happy day continues!) I was headed east on Moorpark. Car (silver BMW 5 or 6 series with a black convertable top and black rims) made a U-turn (toward the West) from a parked position on the right hand side of the road, crossing the right lane directly in front of me. I braked, but ended up hitting the drivers-side rear quarter-panel at about 10-15 mph. Bike went down on the right side, but I was never trapped under it or otherwise crushed. Jumped right up after the accident and assessed the damage. Other driver and passenger got out of the car and approached me. Offered help, but I was very angry and told them to hold on. They got back in their car, sped away, blew a red light, made an illegal U-turn, and headed off in another direction (North on Vineland). A few good Samaritans gave what chase they could, but couldnt get them. Three witnesses helped me get my bike up and over to the side of the road; and they stayed around to give their statements to the police. I also have their information and its all been given to my insurance company. The perpetrating car had no plates, just a placard from a car leasing company (JEM) in Hollywood. ATGATT! My helmet and armored jacket saved me from greater injury - I dont care how hot it gets, kids - wear your damn gear! I am home now; so is the bike (see Note 2). The bike is ride-able, but has some askew handle bars, a broken instrument, and cosmetic damage. Nonetheless I was able to ride it home... Super Tenere are TANKS! Going to have AAA flat-bed the bike to Pasadena Yamaha tomorrow morning. Then Im going to the doctor to get checked out (Note 1). Good thing I got Leviathan fixed when I did - no chance of injury while driving that beast! I dont need anything right now - alls good. But I do have a question for motorcycle friends (and anyone else): Does anyone know of a good repeat-record camera that I could use as a perpetually mounted handlebar-cam? Does the Go-Pro 3 have a ring-record feature to keep overwriting itself until you tell it to stop? Again, Im fine, at home, and comfortable. Love to you all. Troy Note 1: Going to the Dr. to get checked out tomorrow. Any advice on specific things I should mention or have checked? I feel very minor pain in the back of my right hand, right foot, right elbow, and neck. I never lost consciousness. Note 2: About two years ago I named this bike Chanley, after my good friend Todd Chanley. He protected me well today.
