Abraham was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose Architect and Builder is God... By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the Promised Land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose Architect and Builder is God. And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore. All these people were still living by faith when they died... (Hebrews 11: 8- 13a) • God is both a Builder and Architect; He can build your life, marriage, finances, and future, etc. • Abraham lived a life of faith, trust and dependence on God, that is he’s father of faith • On whose foundation is your life or marriage based or grounded? • If your life, marriage or future is not built on God, then you must know that your life’s foundation is just sand... • The rains and floods of life are going to erode it into oblivion. • In other words your marriage will not stand the tests of time... • It’s an accident waiting to happen; it’s just a matter of time... • The evil hates your marriage, I mean God ordained marriage. • God is not obliged to protect what He did not ordain or what is not based on His word Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— For He grants sleep to those he loves (Psalm 127) • Unless the Lord builds...the builders labour in vain... • Unless the Lord watches over your marriage...all the other efforts will be in vain. • God is the One who ordained marriage between a man and a woman... • God is family orientated that is why He’s called “FATHER” • Marriage is a symbol of the relationship between Christ and His bride, the Church (Ephesians 5: 22- 32) • This mystery is very great, but I speak concerning [the relation of] Christ and the church (verse 32) End of part 1
