According to Newsday, Malone said yesterday that getting a contract from the Rangers shows that Glen Sather believes in him as a player and as a person and he is “grateful for the opportunity. He says that his goal is to “make the team” and that he knows it will be a battle with the Rangers depth and young players. Malone also said that he has no issues with signing a two-way contract and understands that it kind of “protects” the Rangers. He said he is glad to have this opportunity rather than just a tryout.
