According to Out of the Crucible: Black Steelworkers in Western Pennsylvania, 1875-1980 By Dennis C. Dickerson. By 1923 the FBI was successful at ridding Aliquippa Pa of Garveyism. The U.N.I.A under Marcus Garvey had a large following of its 1500 black citizens that felt they would be better protected from racism and threats of the KKk, who according to the book "boldly burned Crossess in Aliquippa, Pa." Read about how black steel workers in Aliquippa were fired for following the Garvey movement. Read about the FBI agents and informants. Its no wonder the town turned out the way that it did for black people. Peace and Blessings
