According to US National Weather Service Glasgow Montana, weve got a partial solar eclipse on tap Thursday afternoon! A couple of weeks ago, as the Moon became full, it ventured into Earth’s shadow for a total lunar eclipse. This week the Earth and Moon swap positions during the New Moon phase. The Moon will move across the Sun casting its shadow onto Earth for a partial solar eclipse. The eclipse occurs Thursday, the 23rd, in the afternoon. The eclipse begins around 3:05 PM MDT and ends around 5:35 PM. Maximum eclipse will occur around 4:25 PM. These times are approximate, but close, because they depend on your location. The current forecast has mostly clouds skies with scattered showers. If there happens to be breaks in the clouds, the eclipse will be viewable. * At maximum eclipse the Sun will still be TOO bright to view directly. Eyes can easily be damaged permanently. You will need an indirect method of viewing. One way to view it indirectly is to find trees or bushes with leaves still on them and look into their shadows. You will see small crescents dancing as the leaves shake in the wind. See the NASA video about the best ways to view this eclipse safetly: youtube/watch?v=1Rcf_QNaXK0
