According to a study undertaken by the NUS business schools Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organizations (CGIO), the investment portfolio of Temasek and other Government-Linked Corporations (GLCs) performed much better than the market. This raises questions about whether GLCs are doing better because they are more efficient or whether they are able to do well because they enjoy government-sanctioned monopolies and are able to exploit Singaporeans to protect their bottom line.
